Sugarloaf Resturant

According to our well-fed guests, Sugarloaf Restaurant is one of the best kept secrets of the Wild Coast! Our local chef, Zozo, knows how to tantalize your taste buds and have you coming back for more. Our menu changes regularly, depending on the availability of fresh goods, but there are always a few wonderful surprises up Zozo’s sleeve… And just remember that our breakfasts AND awesome dinners are included in the price of your accommodation!

Breakfast (included)

Choose between traditional porridge (Xhosa-style “mpokoqo”) and cereal, before sinking your teeth into some crisply fried bacon, golden eggs and toast. A variety of teas and freshly ground coffee from Coffee Bay are provided throughout the day. We even boast a spiffy Sprada coffee machine… if you ask one of our lovely kitchen staff very nicely, they’re sure to help you get that perfect froth on your coffee!

Dinner (included)

Being a proudly South African establishment means we will always make sure our guests’ tummies are full and their taste buds more than satisfied. That’s why we normally alternate our dinners on a daily basis. Just have a look at the big notice board in the dining room area to see what your daily menu will be. You can also view some of our typical food evenings below:

Lunch

Most of our guests are out and about during the day, so we usually keep lunch really simple, such as having open sandwiches made with fresh Xhosa “Zozo” bread and different toppings, and served with a side salad… a meal that is filling, fresh and tasty. We also serve toasted sandwiches and ‘wors’ rolls, depending on the menu for the day. Prices will vary, depending on the menu for the day.

Self-catering

Our self-catering option is only allowed OUT OF SEASON. We have a separate self-service kitchen area, with a fridge, deep-freeze, 4-plate gas stove, utensils and plenty of cooking space to release the Jamie Oliver in you! Our kitchen gardens are always abundant with various vegetables and spices, and if you ask one of the kitchen staff, they will gladly pick some for you.

Seafood (seasonal)

Imagine a dinner of fresh crayfish, oysters, mussels and a variety of fish caught daily in our local waters, with your choice of garlic, lemon or peri-peri butter (or all of them!)… perfectly complemented by tasty savoury rice , crispy home-grown salads and Zozo’s freshly baked bread.

Braai (barbecue)

Choose among garlic-and-herb marinated lamb chops, peri-peri or Cajun-style marinated chicken, traditional farm ‘wors’ (sausage), T-bone steaks, or regular rumps… served with a variety of fresh garden salads and Zozo’s ever-popular bread.

South African favourites

On such an evening the menu may be spaghetti bolognaise, lamb or beef curry or traditional Xhosa “mnqushu” (samp and beans), served with fresh salads and Zozo’s bread. And if there are only a small number of guests, you can help choose dinner by voting for your favourite!

Vegetarian

Vegetarians are well looked after by our chef Zozo – simply chat to her about your needs when you arrive, and see what lovely surprises she cooks up for you!

Take notice:

  • The tasty meals above are all included in the cost price of your stay (Breakfast and Dinner).
  • Lunch prices will vary on the menu of the day.
  • Self Catering options do not apply in season.
